Corporate mission and goalsVisma DataLøn & ProLøn A/S (hereafter Visma DataLøn & ProLøn) is a provider of payroll, Time and HR administration services. The company manages disbursement of salaries by means of its payroll systems and provides legal advice and services within HR administration and numerous related outsourcing services to support our customers in their everyday lives.

The main payroll and frontend systems are significant intangible assets. In February 2024 we replaced our old mainframe payroll platform and migrated to a modern cloud computing platform. Strategic key efforts in 2024In 2024, major stepping stones were to be put in place to significantly grow the company over the next 2-3 years. Our key strategic efforts to build growth are:
Grow customer base across all customer types; among other things streamlining our online presence and performance as well as building strong partner relationships
Eliminate technical debt by building new payroll engine to replace old technology
Organizational development and ensure ability to attract and retain skilled employees
Development in activities and finances in 2024
In 2024, Visma DataLøn & Proløn realised revenue of 426 MDKK compared to 404 MDKK in 2023. The increase, 5.4% compared to last year, is slightly better than budgeted. An increase in revenue of 3-4% was expected. The main reason for this, is a higher volume of payslips and a better performance on the add-on “DataLønTid.” In total the expected increase in revenue is exceeded by 6.4 MDKK compared to plan and of this 81% drops to the bottomline.
Result before net financials stands at 158 MDKK (2023: 139 MDKK) equal to a profit margin of 37.1% which is approx. 3% points better than last year. The profit margin is slightly better than planned and the improvement is mainly due to the increase in revenue and the realized savings in connection with Go-live on the new and cost efficient payroll engine in February 2024.
Net financials for 2024 amounted to a net income of 6.5 MDKK (2023: net income of 5.5 MDKK).
The variance can be explained by improvement in cash position over the year and generally increasing interest rates on bank deposits. Profit of the year was 127.8 MDKK (2023: 112.1 MDKK.)
The profit of the year is considered very satisfactory.
Personal data, including EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Visma DataLøn & ProLøn comply with applicable privacy legislation, and in 2024, our new payroll platform achieved the highest security level in our comprehensive internal Visma Application Security Program. Furthermore, we have conducted successful recovery tests.
Additionally, we implemented a new compliance tool (NorthGRC)supporting an even more structured approach to security and compliance.
We have implemented AI in our way of working and updated our internal policies on this subject. At the end of 2024, we launched a chatbot (Dixi) for our customers, which naturally contributed to continuous discussions about AI, which is rapidly evolving and calls for us to keep up with the development, both as users of AI internally and as providers of AI tools externally.
Legislation on GDPR remains a high priority and within the framework of our Information Security Board, we continued discussions and decisions on how to ensure the best possible protection of our customers' data. We make a significant effort to make certain our customers can feel secure in allowing us to handle their data: We have well-tested business processes, which we continually evaluate and train our employees to use, and we conduct awareness campaigns and training on security issues (ransomware, phishing attacks, etc.).
New colleagues are introduced to our security requirements and business processes, and all employees regularly participate in internal Visma e-learning programs and tests. We tailor our awareness program to be more relevant to the respective departments and focus on various topics throughout the year, including handling privacy incidents, data classification, and deletion. We continuously remind our colleagues on how to navigate and respond to external threats. In November 2024, we hired a specialist to give a lecture to all our colleagues – as well as colleagues in other Visma companies – about fraud. Our efforts are handled by our Data Protection Manager, Security Manager, and Workplace Experience Manager and are a regularly recurring theme at our monthly Information Security Board meetings.
DataLøn is ISAE 3000 compliant. We continually review and update our policies, including privacy risks, and our compliance process covers both product lines. In addition, we harmonize all future agreements with suppliers and business partners and conduct audits of all our suppliers.
In 2024, we conducted many courses for our customers on personal data handling, thereby providing our customers with the best framework for compliance with the legislation. Correct handling of personal data remains a major focus area for our customers, and in our courses, we help them understand and translate the many rules into their daily operations – in encounters with business partners, suppliers, and internally.
Special risks
IT security and business continuity
We are a software and domain knowledge company, and since our core services to customers are based on information technology, IT security, process security, and business continuity are the foundation of our business. This applies to both applications and our production processes, where quality assurance is paramount.
At Visma DataLøn & ProLøn, we require a high level of security in our processes and with our subcontractors. Security is continuously tested and verified through audit reports, and audits are conducted by domain subject specialists.
We focus on security in all aspects every single day, and in October, we mark European Cyber Security Month with extra information on external threats, including AI phishing emails, ransomware, fraud, etc., and we end the month with a quiz on these topics.
We obtained an audit statement without corrections or remarks.
Market conditions and fluctuations
We are deeply dependent on market conditions, as the demand for our products and services is sensitive to economic developments, as the sale of payroll administration products is affected by the employment situation and the business climate in general. Whilst payroll is the core product for us, we try to minimize the risks of large fluctuations by having a portfolio of products and support services.
In general 2024 was a more positive macroeconomic landscape compared to last year. The inflation decreased to a more sensible level, which led to a decreasing interest rate, and also the number of bankruptcies is back to a more normal level.
The number of persons in employment exceeded 3 million and the unemployment rate fell to 2.9%. The total workforce in Denmark has grown by approx. 400.000 during the last 10 years - mainly driven by international labor and seniors.
On one hand, the outlook for the future seems positive, if the employment continues to grow or stabilize at a high level and the unemployment rate remains at a low level. On the other hand, we still live in financial and economic uncertainty. The effects of the political change in America are still to be seen and further materialized as well as the war in Ukraine is still pending.
Financial risks
Visma DataLøn & ProLøn's business activity does not imply currency risk except for minor exposures in NOK, SEK and EUR related to intercompany trade and 3rd party suppliers. The Company manages interest rate risks mainly by the Visma Cash pool agreement. The company has no net interest bearing debt. Steps are taken to reduce credit risks from customers by having standard processes in place for collecting debts and rating major customers.

The generic economic climate combined with the continuous war in Ukraine and the potential effects of the political change in USA January 2025, still results in an uncertainty in the market. However, we generally do see some positive markers when it comes to employment, inflation and consumer confidence and the company does not face any direct threats in this context.The company expects to improve the performance and expects an increase in revenue of 4-5 % during 2025. This together with the launch of the new cost-efficient payroll engine in 2024, will have a derived estimated positive effect on the profit before tax around 9-10% compared with 2024.
