Main activities
The company's purpose is to market food products as a respected food, nutrition and wellness company as well as providing services to affiliated companies. Nestlé Danmark A/S sells and markets several brands such as NESPRESSO, NESCAFÉ, NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto, NESQUIK, Starbucks, KIT KAT, AFTER EIGHT, FITNESS and CHEERIOS. All products that are sold are produced with the aim at providing the consumer with a quality product that tastes good, and at the same time we continuously focus on reducing the content of sugar, salt, and fat, while adding more whole grains, fiber, and other natural raw materials where it is possible. The supply of goods is mainly from affiliated companies in the global Nestlé Group.

Developments in activities and economic conditions
In 2024, Nestlé Danmark A/S experienced a sales decrease of kDKK 30,775, or 2.9%, compared to 2023, ending at kDKK 1,020,096 (2023: kDKK 1,050,871). The decline in sales was primarily due to lower sales in the Coffee, Baby Food, and Cereal Breakfast categories. However, the Confectionery, Petcare, and Healthcare categories showed higher sales compared to the previous year. The reduction in the Coffee category sales was attributed to significantly lower distribution of Soluble Coffees due to challenging market conditions and decreased Nespresso sales, partly because of the closure of a boutique in Lyngby early in 2024. The decrease in the Baby Food category sales resulted from a strategic decision made in 2023 to exit the Baby Food business and focus more on the core portfolio, which led to increased sales in the Infant Formula category. However, the higher sales in the Infant Formula category could not fully offset the lost sales from the Baby Food category withdrawal. Conversely, the Confectionery, Petcare, and Healthcare categories exhibited strong growth rates. The sales decline was mainly linked to the Danish market and, to a lesser extent, sales to affiliated companies in the Nordics. In contrast, sales to the border shops on the German/Danish border increased. The company is working towards restoring its gross profit margins to pre-COVID levels, but it remains below those levels (currently at 38% versus 43% in 2019). In 2024, there was no significant progress towards achieving pre-COVID gross profit margins. Nestlé Danmark A/S continues to integrate sustainability into its operations through multiple partnerships and keynotes on regenerative agriculture. The successful Honduras campaign further emphasized our efforts in regenerative practices and strengthened Nestlé’s position in the Danish sustainability landscape.
In 2023, Nestlé announced a strategic review of its Professional Premium Culinary businesses in the Nordics. This review concluded in February 2024 with the decision to sell Nestlé Professional Food A/S in Denmark and Puljonki Oy in Finland. As a result, Nestlé Danmark A/S divested its participation in Nestlé Professional Food A/S on April 2, 2024, to SFK Food A/S, a company within the Solina group. Nestlé Danmark A/S recognized a gain of kDKK 34,146 from this sale in 2024.

Expectations for the future
Geopolitical tensions, which are still high and even increasing, could significantly impact 2025, potentially altering the business environment and our performance dramatically from one day to the next. The loss of volumes and market shares in recent years, along with gross margins that remain lower than pre-COVID levels, will also affect 2025. However, a continued focus on our product portfolio and cost management could positively influence profitability.
Given these considerations, Nestlé Danmark A/S expects the operating profit for 2025 to be in the range of kDKK 60,000 to kDKK 80,000 (before financial items and taxes). The profit for the year (after financial items and taxes) is anticipated to be between kDKK 40,000 and kDKK 60,000.
